In January, the BNJC Book Club will be reading Call Me Your Name by Andre Aciman. Winner of a Lamda Literary Award, the novel has received international acclaim and in 2017 it was adapted into a film, receiving multiple Oscar nominations.
About Call Me By Your Name:
Set in 1980s Italy and spanning the 20 years that follow, this beautiful coming-of-age novel chronicles a budding romance between two Jews – Elio and Oliver. The gorgeous writing style drags the reader in and reminds them of the feelings of young, all-consuming love, fascination, and adoration that borders on obsession. With a distinct theme of Jewishness running through it, the novel has been highly praised by the Jewish Book Council.
About our book club
Our book club is a chance to get together to discuss books with some connection to Jewish culture. Our books will include both fiction and non-fiction, contemporary and classic books by British and international authors, and established and aspiring authors. Books will be chosen by a vote and we encourage everyone to make suggestions.
