Unveiled: Women, Protest and Power in Iran – A Conversation with Jonathan Harounoff

20 August, 2025 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
£8.00 – £22.00

In dialogue with Brighton journalist and activist Heidi Bachram

Join us at BNJC for an evening of real talk and fresh insight as we welcome Jonathan Harounoff, British-Iranian journalist and Israel’s international spokesperson to the United Nations, for a timely conversation on the Women, Life, Freedom uprising in Iran and its wider implications. He’ll be joined by Heidi Bachram, a Brighton-based journalist and award-winning educator on antisemitism. With Iranian heritage and deep roots in community activism, Heidi has been a prominent voice in campaigns for October 7 hostages and memorial efforts through the Palmeira Group. Together, they’ll explore the Women, Life, Freedom uprising that swept through Iran, its global reverberations, and the intersection of activism, identity, and resistance – from Tehran to Brighton.

The evening will include a Q&A and an opportunity to purchase and sign Jonathan’s new book, Unveiled, ahead of its official release.

About the Book

Jonathan’s debut, Unveiled: Inside Iran’s #WomanLifeFreedom Revolt, offers an unfiltered look at the 2022 protests that shook Iran from within, sparked by the killing of Mahsa Jina Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman, by the regime’s morality police.
Through exclusive interviews with survivors and diaspora leaders, the book tells the story of a revolution led by women, a first in modern Middle Eastern history, and what it means for Iran’s future. Available to pre-order now and purchase at the event, ahead of its official release in September.
