Community Security Manager

Job title

Community Security Manager

Description

We are seeking an experienced security professional to lead our Community Security Team and take organisational ownership of security risk, threat management, emergency preparedness, and site-wide protection across BNJC.

This role combines strategic security leadership with a strong on-site presence. You will assess and monitor risk and threat levels, design and implement proportionate security measures, and continuously review emergency and incident response procedures. You will embed safeguarding-aware security practice across the organisation and lead a team of Community Security Officers delivering daily front-line protection, access control, and visitor management.

You will work closely with teams across BNJC to ensure security and safeguarding responsibilities are clearly understood and consistently applied. A key element of the role is translating security risk and threat considerations into clear, calm, and effective communications for different user groups, working closely with the Head of Marketing and Comms to shape these messages.

You will maintain trusted external relationships with CST at national and local level, Sussex Police, and community support officers, ensuring BNJC remains aligned with current community threat assessments and best practice security guidance. Stewardship of CST as a major funder of BNJC’s security infrastructure and guarding provision is central to the role.

While safety and safeguarding are the top priorities, the Community Security Team are also the first people many community members and guests encounter on arrival. You will set the tone for a professional, calm, and reassuring front-of-house presence, balancing vigilance, authority, and welcome.
