BNJC Book Club: Jewish Pride by Ben Freeman

Join us virtually to discuss books!
This month we have chosen to read Ben Freeman’s recently published and widely anticipated book, Jewish Pride: Rebuilding a People. In 'Jewish Pride', Ben, inspired by his experiences with LGBTQ+ pride, aims to educate, inspire and empower Jewish people to reject the shame of antisemitism imposed on Jews by the non-Jewish world as well as non-Jewish perceptions of what it means to be a Jew. Enabling them to begin the process of defining their own identities as proud Jews through Jewish experience, Jewish history and Jewish values.

Our July book club will be led by Fiona Sharpe, a Brighton-based Communities Consultant and Spokesperson for Labour Against Antisemitism. We look forward to an interesting and open discussion on the issues and questions raised in ‘Jewish Pride’ and the topic of Jewish identity and antisemitism.
About our book club

Our book club is a chance to get together to discuss books with some connection to Jewish culture. Our books will include both fiction and non-fiction, contemporary and classic books by British and international authors and established and aspiring authors. Books will be chosen by a vote and we encourage everyone to make suggestions.

Although we aren't able to gather in person, we can still share our love of books virtually! Register to let us know you'll be coming, and we'll send out a meeting link prior to the event. All welcome.

Support local! We encourage our book club to support Independent bookstores when they can in Brighton & Hove, such as City Books (Hove) and Kemptown Bookshop (Brighton).
