Yofi
Chef de Partie
Run a section in the Yofi kitchen at the Hub: seasonal, kosher food cooked with care, a supportive team and room to grow. Full time, from £29,000 a year.
About the role
Yofi, the kosher restaurant at the Hub in Hove, is looking for a skilled Chef de Partie who takes real pride in their craft: someone who enjoys a kitchen where standards matter, the team supports each other, and there is room to grow creatively. The role is 40 hours a week.
Yofi serves residents, guests staying at BNJC, visitors and the wider public, on a site that also has flats and guest stays, event and community spaces, a nursery, a gym, co-working and a full programme of community celebrations. The kitchen works under kosher dietary laws, and chefs from every background who want to learn and work within this culinary tradition are welcome. Training in kosher kitchens can be given.
The role
You take ownership of your section from preparation through to service, so dishes leave the kitchen consistently well executed and beautifully presented. You work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, support junior chefs and bring ideas to the menu.
- Running your section: mise en place and service, cooking to recipe and presentation standards, keeping quality and timing consistent
- Supporting the team: mentoring junior chefs, delegating and working with the wider kitchen
- Menu development: seasonal ideas with the Head Chef, dishes and specials within kosher requirements
- Kitchen standards: food hygiene and safety (HACCP), stock control, portioning, less waste, safe use of equipment
- Service: calm and professional when it is busy, with smooth coordination between sections
What you bring
- A culinary qualification (NVQ Level 2 or 3, or equivalent) or strong professional kitchen experience
- 2 to 3 years in a UK professional kitchen, as a Chef de Partie or a strong Senior Commis ready to step up
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety (HACCP, COSHH)
- Excellent knife skills and core cooking techniques
- Working well under pressure, as a positive team player who communicates clearly
It helps to have an interest in menu development, experience of a kosher kitchen, and flexibility for evenings, weekends and busy services.
Pay and benefits
From £29,000 a year, full time. Benefits include a company pension, free or discounted food, gym membership and a staff discount.

Jewish Community Programme & Digital Engagement Manager
A dual role: bring the programme to life and share it with the world. About half programme delivery and half digital engagement and content.
About the role
A genuinely dual role, split about 50% programme delivery and 50% digital engagement and content. It reports to the Head of Community Engagement for programme delivery and to the Head of Marketing, Brand, Communications and Performance for digital engagement and content.
On the programme side, the role plans, coordinates and delivers a year-round programme of Jewish cultural, community and social experiences, from talks, workshops and celebrations to festivals and family activity, working with colleagues, volunteers, community champions and partners. It is visible and present on site, including evenings and weekends.
On the digital side, the role owns the day-to-day content calendar, creates and publishes content across BNJC’s channels, manages digital community conversations, delivers email marketing and reports on engagement.
This is not a desk-based programming role: it is on the ground, making things happen, and capturing and sharing them as it goes.
