Rose: Festival Partner Screening
Festival Partner Screening
Presented in partnership with UK Jewish Film as part of the 30th UK Jewish Film Festival 2026.
BNJC is delighted to present a special screening of ROSE in partnership with UK Jewish Film as part of the 30th UK Jewish Film Festival. This festival-affiliated screening brings one of this year’s acclaimed films to Brighton & Hove audiences in a welcoming community setting.
ROSE
Dir. Aurélie Saada. France, 2020, 103 mins, French with English subtitles
Françoise Fabian (My Night at Maud’s, Belle de Jour, Call My Agent), Grégory Montel (Call My Agent) and Aure Atika (The Night Manager, OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies) star in this warm-hearted Parisian Jewish family drama. When patriarch Philippe dies, his wife Rose feels that her life is over. A chance dinner party, however, reignites her joie de vivre, much to the discomfort of her three loving but somewhat dysfunctional children. Unsure how to deal with this new, vivacious version of their mother, Rose’s children’s concerns can’t stop her celebrating life again.
Honest, beautifully observed and laced with a treasure trove of Yiddish and Mizrahi songs, this is a life-affirming and accomplished debut feature from director Aurélie Saada.
This screening forms part of the wider 30th UK Jewish Film Festival celebrations and is presented at BNJC through a partnership with UK Jewish Film. Audiences can enjoy an award-winning piece of Jewish cinema locally while participating in one of the UK’s leading Jewish cultural festivals.
