Groups
Shabbatonim at BNJC
Run your Shabbaton at BNJC in Hove, and the beds, the Friday night dinner, the synagogue and the security are all at the Hub. Groups of every age come: youth movements, women's groups, families, and more than a few rabbis.
Short stays
A Shabbaton weekend, Friday to Sunday.
Arrive on Friday afternoon, settle into your flats and houses, and be ready for Shabbat. The weekend ends with brunch on Sunday and a relaxed check-out.
- On Fridays, check-in is completed an hour before Shabbat begins.
- Check-out on the day of departure is 10:00.
- Send the guest list before you arrive, and security will be ready for your group at the gate.
Medium stays
More than a weekend.
Some groups want a few nights, or most of a week. The flats and town houses are the same, and so is the host. Dates, numbers and meals are agreed with the Groups team for each group, so ask with the dates you have in mind, even if they are not fixed yet.
Programming support
Your leaders run the programme their way.
For the extras, the Groups team can help.
- Group-building activities.
- A relaxed film night.
- Tickets for local attractions, such as the pier or SEA LIFE Brighton.
Logistics support
The practical bits are looked after, from the gate to the kettle.
Security is told when the group is arriving and meets it at the main entrance, with keys and access fobs.
- A limited number of underground parking spaces for facilitators, arranged before arrival.
- Fresh linen and towels for every guest.
- Kitchens with an oven, hob, fridge and dishwasher, with the option of a Shabbat kettle and hot plates.
Friendly staff
The team at the Hub is friendly and on hand from arrival to the last goodbye.
Ask about where to eat, what to see and how to get around. The seafront is about five minutes’ walk, and the Lanes, the pier and the Royal Pavilion are close.
Catering available
Meals come from Yofi, the kosher restaurant at the Hub, under KLBD supervision.
Friday night dinner and Shabbat lunch can be booked ahead for the whole group.
A typical weekend
Arrive on Friday afternoon and settle into your flats and houses. Friday night dinner comes from Yofi, after services with BHHC. Shabbat morning brings the service, kiddush and a long lunch. Saturday night is yours: a speaker, a film night, or a walk along the seafront once the stars are out. Sunday starts with brunch, and your group heads home well fed.
